Field Etiquette and Personal Responsibilities

  • AAM’s first and highest priority is SAFETY.  All Spectators, Members and Guests that utilize the Airpark are not only responsible for their own safety, but for the safety of others. Everyone at the Airpark, and particularly the Members and users, are required to enforce and abide by all Field Rules and Club Policies.
  • Each Pilot and Airpark user is, himself or herself, the “Pilot-In-Command”, and is responsible for abiding by, and complying with, AAM rules and policies and all other applicable rules and regulations, including City park regulations and ordinances, State and Federal laws, and all FAA requirements for UAS operations.
  • AAM encourages all Spectators, Members and Guests to use common sense and to be courteous and friendly when visiting the Airpark.
  • All Spectators, Members and Guests are responsible for keeping the facilities clean and sanitary. Pets must be properly leashed and kept outside the pit areas, and owners are responsible for cleaning up pet “messes.”
  • Spectators, Members and Guests should abide by all posted placards and signs. The posted speed limit for all roads is 20 mph.  Lower speeds are advised to limit creation of dust.
  • Spectators, especially children, are encouraged to stay in designated spectator areas. Spectators may have limited access to pit areas (as instructed by Members) and should never be allowed beyond the pit area (i.e. in startup areas, pilot stations, etc.), unless they are acting as a visual observer or spotter.  Children should always be under direct supervision by adults including those of Spectators, Members and Guests.
  • AAM shares the Airpark with the surrounding wildlife (of all kinds). Spectators, Members and Guests should never harass, bother, or otherwise seek to disturb such wildlife.
  • The Airpark is a City of Arvada Park, and is located in a remote and undeveloped area.  Rattlesnakes, coyotes, and other dangerous wildlife are present at the Airpark. Everyone is responsible for their own safety and should avoid encounters with dangerous wildlife.
  • Alcohol, marijuana, and illegal drugs are not allowed anywhere at the Airpark.
  • Members and Guests will not operate any model aircraft while under the influence of alcohol or any drug that could adversely affect their ability to safely control the model (i.e. per the AMA Safety Code).
  • AAM endeavors to be good stewards of the Airpark (and surrounding lands), and seeks to minimize its impact on the environment. Spectators, Members and Guests should be conscious of this mission and similarly support Club efforts.
  • Proper U.S. Flag etiquette should be observed at all times.
