Vern Lake Float Fly

Come join us for the AAM 2024 float fly series at Long Lake Ranch Park on Vern Lake. It’s free to watch and has a small landing fee for pilots. A small raft is also available if there are any “mishaps.” 2.4GHz frequency will only be allowed.

Our Vern Lake site is not a FRIA approved site. As a result, it is the responsibility of the drone/plane pilot to suitably equip their model(s). The Arvada Associated Modelers does not have the resources, nor the authority, to monitor for the use of Remote ID thus the Pilot In Command bears this sole responsibility.

AAM JUNIORS Fun Fly

Hi AAM junior members and parents,

My name is Everett. I’m 11 years old and I have been flying for two months now. I like seeing other kids and young adults at the field, but do not see many out there so I thought we should start a juniors club to meet each other and fly together. It should be a lot of fun.

Over time, we will try different events including fun flies, field trips to see unique full scale aircraft, trainings, juniors competitions, model building events, and more…I’d like to hear your ideas.

To kick things off, our first event will be a Fun Fly on Saturday, December 7 from 10 am -12 pm.

We will reserve the West runway at the Arvada Modelers Airfield for just juniors
We will fly together, and have some fun flying activities and challenges put together by the AAM leadership team
If you don’t have a plane, the AAM may have an extra one you can borrow
We will bring snacks and hot chocolate
We will plan to meet and fly as long as it is dry. If it is snowing, we will postpone to a future date

To help us know how many people to plan for (for snacks and stuff), can you please let us know if you will be able to attend? You can email my dad Chris at juniors@arvadamodelers.com with questions and to let us know if you’ll join us.
